Hi everyone. 29 (almost 30) year old from Portugal. For a long time i regretted myself for not learning any instrument or studying music. However, i always made up excuses for not learning (i am almost 30, i won’t start learning music at this age, etc). However, my wife plays the violin and has done so for a very long time and one great activity to do as a couple is playing together, having fun and hit those notes that makes your head move. So i decided i had given enough excuses and decided to invest on Bass. Am enjoying every minute of course which i am doing at my own pace, replaying lessons if i feel the need to practice a little bit more. Glad to be here and glad to have started playing bass.
Welcome, @joaomalves. The most beautiful thing about music is that it doesn’t care one bit how young or old a player is. All it demands is that you love it. And if you do, music will reward you with a lifetime filled with joy. Enjoy!
Hello all, my name is Tiago, I am 45 and a Brazilian-Canadian - in Canada.
I’ve been playing guitar and percussion here and there for a few years and recently I decided to learn how to play bass!
I have a Yamaha TRBX304, and I can’t wait to start playing!
I am sure this will be a great journey with great people to share my experiences.
Cheers!
Welcome @Mar
Welcome @prozaczen
Welcome @joaomalves my youngest daughter (18) and her Girlfriend are planning to move to Portugal this summer after her GF finishes HighSchool. My daughter already finished school, but graduation isnt til June, and her GF still goes to school every day til graduation in June.
I think they are planning to move around August or so.
Great to know. Hope she enjoys the good weather (sunny most of the time), the good confort food and great hospitality that we’re known for. I am positive she will have a blast here. Cheers!
Hey fellow aspiring bassplayers! I’m restarting my bass “career” for the 3rd time. Like many of you I find certain lessons very challenging (read undo-able) and damn discouraging. But I am in this for the duration.
For me the challenge is therapy in that I cannot think about anything beyond left and right fingers while playing. I care not a bit about jazz or funk, being an old rock n roller. A bit too much theory, but those soliloquies of Josh’s might sink in while I’m trying to get my fingers to behave.
Overall a great course and in addition to the lessons I surf a bit and have found some incredible bassists like Ellen A who both encourage and humble my sorry attempts.
At some point later this summer of 2022 I hope to find a local garage band to jam with.
Home is in the Black Hills of Dakota Territory. Hunt, fish, ski, climb, ride mororcycles and horses and enjoy some of the best cuisine anywhere thanks to my lovely wife & life partner.
Look forward to meeting some of you here and others in person.
My on-line personna is “Badmule” because I have/had trouble staying in the box (12-bar blues progression) with my last band.
Thanks Josh and all of you for the inputs and inspriration.
