Hello all,

I’m Paul and from I’m from Wales, UK. I’ve loved the bass since the dawn of time and always wanted to play.

I’m 55 years old and the first ever birthday present my wife bought me was a Squier P bass back in 2001. I started lessons for a few months then life got in the way. Lessons were tough and I got bored of things like phrygian codes or scales (if I’ve even spelt that correctly). However, I did learn to play Duran Duran’s ‘Save A Prayer’ but I’ve long forgotten it.

We went to a gig last week (Samantha Fish) and i decided there and then I need to learn my bass. I had my bass fixed three days later (loose wire), found my amp (got lost twice moving to England and then back home to Wales) then did a bit of research on the internet and I stumbled across @JoshFossgreen on Youtube and I’ve just invested in the Beginner to Badass course. Wish me luck; I’ll need it because I couldn’t wrap my head around music lessons in school, I’m tone deaf, have no rhythm and I’m cack handed. Oh, and I haven’t picked up my bass in 20 years.

I’ve also ordered another bass, this time a jazz version from Squier. I have to wait until March for delivery because it’s a leftie but it gives me time to at least learn some basics.

Music tastes are metal, hard rock and old school punk. Favourite bassists are Muzz Skillings, Flea and Duff McKagan.

welcome @PaulD ! I’m sure you will enjoy B2B. Josh has a great approach and remember that if you have trouble with the workouts, don’t worry-- just go to the next lesson. There’s one particular song that defeats everyone, you’ll probably experience the joy of it like the rest of us :stuck_out_tongue: But always remember to just have fun with B2B and remind yourself you improve with every lesson. Many of us have finished B2B and found the very hard things much easier down the track. Have fun!

Welcome to the group @PaulD, a bunch of us started off like this. I’m no longer tone deaf, but still a bit cack handed. Enjoy the course.

Welcome, @PaulD. You might want to check out Thomann.de for an in-stock lefty so you won’t have to wait until March. In the meantime, enjoy Josh’s lessons. He makes learning bass fun!

Um, thanks for the link but I’m looking for a leftie bass, not an engine part
