Try some live/zoom lessons. Lots of pros and touring musicians also do them. Maybe find someone who specializes in the style you are looking to improve. ?

Hi everybody! I’m Saz, I’m a 25yo student from Australia.

I’ve played quite a few instruments when I was a kid & in high school: oboe, bassoon, piano, ukulele, and trumpet. Looking back, I realise what I loved doing the most was playing with other musicians in my high school concert band and the sense of community it gave me. Recently I got gifted some money from my grandma, and bought a gorgeous Raspberry Red Yamaha BB234 and a Fender Rumble 40. I picked up the bass with the hope to find some other musicians and jam with them, maybe even play a few local venues. Before I do that I actually have to know my basics first!

At the moment I’m struggling a little bit with being an adult beginner - I think my music theory knowledge is far above my physical skill at this point, which is pretty frustrating. I know practising and not overthinking it is the key to getting better, but that’s so much easier to say than do!

Even so, I’m super keen to get back into music and find that sense of inner peace that comes when playing again

@saz welcome aboard. Trust me, by choosing b2b you are starting right. I had a few years of playing, under my belt before picking up the bass again. I’m not even halfway through the course and I’m feeling I’ve been brought into a new world regarding playing bass.

Welcome, @saz. Glad you’re here. At 25, you have decades in front of you to learn and master bass technique. Be patient, take the B2B course, and put in the time to practice. And, before anything, give yourself permission to suck at first, because everyone does until they don’t. But hang in there. It’s more than worth the effort. Enjoy!

Great to have you here @saz !!

Most adult beginners are fairly quickly able to be decent on bass and run into wishing they new theory up down and sideways. Be patient, put in the time, and I think you will find you will have quite an advantage once your fingers/eyes/ears/brain all start syncing…

Hey, I’m Tiffany. I just started the course a month ago and I’m loving it. Im usually a thrill seeker, riding bulls, hiking mountains, drag racing, surfing, etc. and this has been just as amazing to start. I’m a quiet person and this instrument just seems to ā€œget meā€. Im so happy to find something I can express myself through. This course is so rewarding and I can’t thank you guys enough for all the work you put in to make it possible for me to learn. I tried guitar once when I was a teen and that just didn’t work out so I had little hope until I found bassbuzz on YouTube. Thanks again for all of the time and responses and also for creating an environment when I don’t feel alone in some of my beginners problems. That keeps my hopes high and keeps me going!
