Hello @stu.laxton , @heather.rauh , @guido.darrigo and @Kennethlandes32974 ! Welcome to our community and have fun playing the bass! ![]()
That’s a very inspiring story! Sounds like you found the right instrument for you. It is interesting how after starting to play, we hear the bass more than everything else, even in commercials.
Welcome and enjoy!
That’s the best feeling! Welcome, keep playing and have fun! ![]()
That was cool to listen to those tracks one after the other. “If it sounds country man, that’s what it is” - Kris Kristofferson.
Congratulations, Josh and Mandi, marriage is truly something special. I’ve been with my wife for 10 years now, and she has been my biggest supporter throughout my bass journey.

I’ve been here for less than a year, and it’s already one of the best communities I’ve ever been part of. Enjoy the ride.
This year I will do my second pass through the B2B.
Happy New year everybody!
Right! First time I heard DS The Bug I was thinking just that. MCC sounds almost soft rock.
Then there’s the history of the Fender Precision bass. ![]()

Good afternoon. My name is Tony, I’m a 51-year-old disabled guy from the UK. I have had my bass for one week now, so I’m a total newbie. Sometimes I think I’m mad for wanting to learn my first ever musical instrument now. A bit about myself is I’m a community leader for a men’s mental health charity and run weekly free meeting fo Anu men over 18, offering them a safe space to open up and just be heard. I was advised to learn as it is good for mental health. As I’m disabled and funds are very limited, I’m just doing the free BassBuzz lessons at the moment while trying to save up for the full course. Hopefully, this community will be helpful.

Hello! Just bought my first bass and started this course. Currently on lesson two.
Enjoying everything so far and hope to be a valuable member at some point.
By the way the bass guitar I bought is a 2015 fender jazz bass with the sandblasted body (red) and a Geddy Lee neck
Welcome @Rant and enjoy!
Hi everyone! I’m Amy, and I’m brand new to the world of bass. My interest actually grew out of learning ukulele over the last few years. While I enjoyed it, I kept finding myself drawn to the sound and feel of bass — especially after seeing all the new solid‑body electric bass ukes popping up.
I didn’t want to jump in too deep right away, so picked up an Ibanez Mikro a couple months ago just to see if the bass bug would really bite. Then for Christmas, I received a new bass, a Sterling Stingray short scale, and haven’t put it down since.
I’m currently working through Module 2 and really enjoying the process. I’m hoping to get better at bass than I ever managed with ukulele, and I’m excited to keep learning, practicing, and getting the confidence to play at our local open mic.
Looking forward to being part of the community!
Welcome @arsmol2 - keep groovin’

Ciao everyone,
I’m from Germany and in my 40s, always wanted to learn an instrument (back then piano) but we couldn’t afford it and than life happened. During the pandemic the work-life balance got better and by chance I saw an add for a bass and amp combo for €90 and just bought it on impulse. Tried to teach myself on and off, struggling a lot since I had no prior musical education and no knowledge of music theory. So, got myself the b2b course for christmas and enjoy it a lot so far. Still play on the cheap bass and amp combo which probably isn’t ideal (especially since the frets are longer than the fingerboard and scratch up my hands pretty good during slides). Plan was to upgrade both once I finished the course (Sire P5/Rumble100) but I’m contemplating to move this a bit up.
I listen mostly to DoomStonerSludge, some TripHop and for an unknown reason I like opera. Plan is to play mostly blues and some classic rock.
Some random stuff I’m into:
- I actually like my job
- My holidays I spend with underwater/wildlife photography
- I do enjoy baking
Maybe two questions as well:
- What is the spaghetti….ahh, cat policy? Are they allowed as an audience while practicing or do they count as distracting?
- Anyone else plays standing up instead of seating? Seems to feel much more natural and easier for me.
Have a good day everyone!
Welcome @beppo
Have fun!
Let the cat watch. Might bring some inspiration
