Open invitation to take people bass shopping
Thanks!! It’s the “finding-an-excuse-and-the-funds-to-getting-there” part that I need to work on
Check out the Abroad in Japan YT channel. https://youtube.com/@abroadinjapan?si=K1C3BWWbPwCNEZpM
A British national who’s lived in Japan for over 10 years.
His channel has vids on etiquette, food, tattoo friendly onsens, advise on learning Japanese etc.
Start off by learning some easy day to day words like:
Good Morning - Ohayo gozaimasu - おはようございます
Good Afternoon - Konichiwa - こんにちは
Good Evening - Konbawa - こんばんは
Good Night - Oyasumi - おやすみ
Thank you - Arigato - ありがとう
Delicious - Oishi - 美味しい
I find that the locals are very appreciative if you attempt to speak Japanese.
Amazing - Sugoi
Cute - Kawaii
For rude people: Baka (idiot).
Actually @howard @Tokyo_Rat , is there really that much prejudice against tattoos, assuming they’re fairly inoffensive ones? I would have thought a lot of Japanese are pretty used to foreigners wearing them. Maybe onsens may not allow them but should tattoo wearers keep them covered in public?
As main stream as it seems to be it is still looked down upon. Not to the point of them being covered but I have been pulled over on the street and interviewed for local television as to why I have them. I do not have that many tattoos so it kind of caught me by surprise.
This is why, even living in the US, I try to keep my ink in places that I can put on a dress shirt and hide them. I get that folks have them on their necks and face nowadays but for work purposes, I still prefer having the choice of letting you know whether they’re there or not.
They were fine with my tattoo when I visited.
Yeah, they will still keep you out of some places.
Still, more and more kids are getting them.
Never say this to anyone.
Yep, if you even try it will warm them up a lot.
I was told by a japanese(former coworker) that it wasn’t that bad… as other a bit harsher.
Could it be depending on setting ?
no it’s more that they will think you are a weeb
Saying it to friends is fine.
Ok, that guy was. His desk was always decorated.
Maybe that would explain.
Also note that expats are much more harsh on stuff like this than Japanese people, they will just politely smile and probably say something like “Your Japanese is excellent.”
This is a must go @JoshFossgreen for sure…
As for sight seeing - all I saw was basses, lol.
Cannot help with food because wagu beef and sushi are the way to go in Japan, lol.
Warning - this is a very expensive service, and he doesn’t even charge!
Oh come on. You only bought two!
