How do I stop staring at my fretting fingers?

I’m trying to spend less time staring at my fretting fingers, but I don’t know how to do it. If I don’t look then my fingers just wander off and I get tons of buzz and wrong notes. Am I supposed to “feel out” the frets with my fingertips? I can’t feel anything, especially on the E and A strings. Or just practice a lot and eventually muscle-memorize the distances?
