Try playing along with a drummer cam on YouTube. You might be surprised how easy it is to stay on time when you can visually see the metronome. Start with a simple R/5 rhythm don’t worry about the notes yet

Don’t worry about it. Not only playing perfectly on the beat makes your sound cold and clinical a good bass part? Maybe. Great bass lines are played slightly behind the beat or drum beat. Drummers too, are known to play slightly behind the beat.

I can keep OK time but really prefer to practice with drums. There’s looooooots of good ways to get drums. Drum apps, drum plugins for the DAW, drum machines, canned beats in pedals, youtube drum tracks, etc. I program my own drums using a DAW plugin. You get pretty good at making drum tracks pretty quickly :slight_smile:

Check out grooveful.io, written by our own @gcancella. Great resource, you program it exactly like a step sequencer, like in a classic Roland drum machine.
