My B2B Before Christmas Challenge

I started the 30 day B2B on November 11th, and I have just finished the intro to Module 10., which looks to be on the “Day18” portion of the schedule. It appears I have 12 days to go until I am certifiably bad-assed! I was three days ahead so I took an entire day break yesterday, because my fingers and brain felt like well-chewed bubble gum. Today I was as right as rain, and my fingers and brain were eager again. I have no printer for course extras download, but it’s actually been a great thing because have been hand writing stuff, and can now quickly and accurately(!) draw the staph, clef and key signature…and live to tell the tale using proper music terms! @JoshFossgreen, God bless you!

Cool
I still haven’t finished. We have been having a minor family emergency and so bass time is limited. I am about to start the last module.
Good luck

Family comes first! I hope everything is okay.

Rock on after you get the family stuff sorted.

Sometimes those inconvenient little things turn into blessings-in-disguise! They force you to do some work, and make you think - then once you do them, you’re even more badass, as it wasn’t as hard as it seemed before. Just my experience, even still, I started B2B back in May, and there’s still a learning curve with it all. Keep rockin’!!

Almost there, Paul . . .

Hope everything works out okay for your family, and fingers crossed.

Cheers, Joe

You take care of you, we are a team, @studio! Have a tender moment alone with your bass for therapy!

@Vik! Precisely! I am an artist and do a lot of hand lettering, so I’m treating this like the secret Ovaltine decoder (in keeping with Christmas themed puns) and trying to paint in my experience to help me remember for the notorious B2B pop quiz!

That didn’t quite work (left out the “g”) - you know you don’t have to type the whole (complicated) moniker every time!? As you start typing, the “system” should give you a couple of suggestions to chose from!

But, yes, merry Christmas, @HannahWalker!

Whew! Every last finger on my left hand is sore, but I have to say Module 9 was quite satisfying. I never knew 12/8 time could be so satisfying. @JoshFossgreen, I appreciate your ability to count and shout out notes at the same time. You could be an auctioneer…just ad the word “bid” between every beat and call out an occasional “dollar!” The most exotic time signature I ever saw was 5/4, when I was a music page turner for piano for a local musical. It was counted out by the conductor “Penn - syl - va - NI - a, Penn - syl - va - NI - a”

Watch out for Pink Floyd’s “Money” - neat bass line - mostly in 7/4.

And… (most non-musicians never even know… or care): the “Mission Impossible” theme is in 5/4!

Module 10 was really fun. My fingers, however, are toast. I just unlocked Module 11 and finished the first lesson, which was relaxing after all them there pairs of triplets. I was wondering what I was going to do “Life After B2B” and decided on a plan. I’m going to go back and find all the songs we cut our teeth on in this course and learn the entire bass lines. I want a sound foundation, pardon my saying! This way I can continue to learn, and if I have questions I can ask all y’all. After that, I will work on the First 50 Songs which look quite possible now!

Good for you, @HannahWalker . . . :+1:

You’ve really made a lot of progress very quickly, and yeah, those fingers are going to hurt a bit, but you’ll get over that.

Congrats on your progress!

Thank you! @eric.kiser, for some reason this boot camp challenge suits my personality. “I want it, and I want it now.” I didn’t know it was possible to bootstrap my way up to playing beyond even the average Joe! @JoshFossgreen will kick your ass before you register movement, Jedi style, and with a smile.

I hope I didn’t “Joe Shame” with the politically incorrect Average Joe slur.
