We’re talking Go Playalong, right?
In case the automatic sync is not perfect: you can modify the result manually (Sync: enter synch mode)
If everything fails: remove all sync points. Set the first one and then the last one (similar to GP). Most of the time you don’t need to change anything or at least not a lot
This procedure can be challenging, when songs f#cking fade out.
More info:
And: if you want to play along, you likely need to enable direct monitoring on your audio interface.

Some more tips - how to clean up and optimize the tabs:
Guitar Pro
- Sometimes the notes are all over the place (ie, some notes are E5, others A0 - with no systematic behind it)
- Create a copy/clone of the bass tabs (GP bass) and on “Track” click “grand staff” and then “single staff”. After that click on tuning and select your tuning (ie 4 strings and standard tuning. You choose any tuning, really - like Drop D). Now it’s cleaned up nicely - as in: it will move all notes to lower frets (ie E5 to A0).
- Create a copy/clone of the resulting tabs and name it MSCORE Bass
MuseScore
- Load the modified file
- On the left side you will see three bass tabs listed: Bass, GP Bass and MSCORE Bass.
- Click the drop downs and set all bass tabs to “Tab 4 Strings common”. Otherwise the resulting tabs will be for guitar.
- Hide all tabs, except MSCORE Bass.
- Now you can do a batch select of certain notes or even strings, to change the notation any way you like
- For example: if you don’t like playing open notes, you can click D0 (or E0 or G0), right click, select (more) and activate “Same pitch”, “Same string” and (important!!!) “same staff”. All D0 will be selected now. Then drag it down and you have them the 5th fret.
- For example, if you don’t like to play the G strings: you can click any note on G, right click, select (more) and activate “Same string” and (important!!!) “same staff”. All notes on the G string will be selected now. Then drag it down and you have all G notes on D.
Export the MuseScore file to MusicXML, load in into Guitar Pro and create a GP file. That’s it!
