I have one of these. Not a Contemporary,…It’s an Active Squier Deluxe, with an ebanol fretboard. This circuit has a ‘dummy coil’. They have a ‘sweet switch’. They came in black, white, and sunburst.
Reminds me of Duck Dunn’s Fender P-bass.
I can only tell (because I have the 70’s P bass) that the Classic Vibe series are worth every buck. The only downside are the pickups, which I would give a 6/10. All the other parts of the bass 8/10 or 9/10/.
Easily rectified for $200-300 and then you have a way cheaper than MIUSA Fender
I would agree with this and yeah the pickup is the weak spot - like most Fender stock pickups it’s not bad, but it’s not great either. Need to drop a DiMarzio or Fender CS pickup in it.
Build quality is solid, enough so that I almost bought one once.
OP has started like… 4 threads on this topic…
But he stated that he wants something that is all good out of the box. Doesn’t want to fiddle with upgrades or modding.
I personally have those Seymour Duncan Quater Pounder pickups on it, and for rock et al they sounds awesome!
