Pedals, what’s a good starting point?

@Barney uses an HX One to do this. Hey Barney, how does it sound with the HX One?

Unsurprisingly from Line 6 it sounds pretty good.

They’ve clearly spent a lot of time / money on this product line and it shows. It’s basically a HX Stomp but just one pedal at a time. It works for me.

$250 for 250 pedals seems to be a pretty good deal :man_shrugging:

Just had a very brief look- is the HX One like the Zoom pedal but better?

It’s head and shoulders better than the Zoom.

I own both. It’s in a different class.

Yeah the Helix line is basically the gold standard. Better than Zoom, better than Boss. Not up there with the Kemper or Quad Cortex, but those also have a slightly different mission.

So this thing looks awesome:

OC-2 circuit for the octaver, but with selectable waveforms (OC-2 was just a sine wave) and more. Sawtooth wave with unison! Very very synthy. Seriously, sounds a lot like a vintage analog monosynth, more than a bass - especially when he throws on their filter pedal. That filter pedal looks sweet on its own.

Looks like they no longer make it. Their other pedals look killer though:

Even that’s debatable. There are some big acts that absolutely could afford to run whatever they want running helix floor units.

Zoom and Boss also upped their sims game. The impressive thing about the Quad Cortex is its power. It can process 4 channels which makes it an interesting solution for bands and sound engineers.

Kemper just released a compact pedal too, I would actually say this pedal competes more with a QC or Tonex since it’s a profiler and not a multi-fx pedal. Altho they profile stompboxes too what kinda make it multi-fx

Does anyone on this forum actually own a Kemper?

this. the game has changed in processing capability, touch screens and icon based graphics. the sound is debatable as to which is the best but I don’t think it matters as much in the higher end units, it’s pretty close. I am fully expecting to see a complete re-do or a new product line launch from line6 at some point.

There are many, so do it better than others.

Put this search in your google machine and read reviews.
“best pitch shifter pedal for bass”

The pitchfork seems to be quite a clean one.
I can also do this on my Source Audio C4.

I also have this which is so much fun and also overkill for what you are looking for, but you can control the drop to whatever with zero artifacts or modulation or anything - perfect sound…
