Based on a post @John_E made in the covers thread, I decided to count compressor instances for a typical bass track of mine. Here’s my most recent cover. I’m a bit of a compression junkie.
First three instances, multiband at the start of the effects for the track as the first processing on the dry bass. (plus you can also see the filter trimming away the low end mud on the right - critical to sit in the mix well with other instruments)
Next up, the one on my bass amp sim, which I really should turn off as it is now cranked down, but I left it on, so here it is:
Next three instances, dual multiband in the channel strip for Neutron, at the track output. And the track limiter (which we are currently gain-staged way below.)
Finally, the Master Limiter, in Ozone.
