Very good point @terb
Looks like I had a lucky escape as I ordered a set when I had my Rick but changed my mind and canceled the order

Incidentally, Lemmy used Gibson Thunderbird mudbucker as his neck pickup and a standard Rickenbacker pickup in the bridge position

Indeed! Saw some mega bands there and always ended up at the pub across the road :joy:

Hey yeah thanks for the reminder - I was thinking about some new SD pickups a while back but got distracted. maybe it’s time to take the plunge - they look pretty good on Youtube and the reviews are positive. As long as it fits the pickguard without needing extra holes drilled etc,

This is an area where talkbass has a lot of good info, but even better is the Rickresource.

Have you had a look over there @Ed ?

well, it’s been a very long time since my previous cover … let’s go for some alternative country !

The Civil Wars - Barton Hollow

I really fell in love with this band, especially this song. Impressive singing, great songwriting and a perfect dark ambiance. As often with dark/alt country, there is no bass line on the original record. So, I created and added my own line, and that’s it.
I went back almost 100% to guitar this year, so I really lack playing time with basses. The cover is far from perfect, but I consider that it’s still better than no cover at all.

Greenie with foam in DADG, into the Bass POD Pro, directly into the DAI.

Pretty good cover. There were times I could not distinguish the bass in the mix but overall good cover on a song and style I had previously not paid attention to.

This was just great @terb.
I heard your bass just fine and thought it was great in the mix.

Super cool tune and a super great job on it.
Tone was just great and fit in really well.
You gotta love the magic of a P bass and some cheap foam!

Greenie sounds great as always. She downtunes nicely

Excellent bassline. Works really well with the song. This song is great, and with your bassline added, kind of reminds me of The Heavy.

Borderlands fans will recognize this one

thanks !

cool song, I didn’t knew it but it somewhat sounds kinda familiar. it’s maybe a bit more “rock” than The Civil Wars but still a bit close, yeah. at least the ambiance is kinda similar. I like it

It was actually something about your bassline pushing the song along that reminded me of it.

Very nice bassline, fits the song beautifully. I like how you kind of slap the muted notes with your plucking fingers, really locks in the groove.

yeah I try to give some percussive accents to kinda compensate a bit the lack of a drum

Great job Laurent @terb ! I never heard the song but I really liked it and the bass line was superb!

Because of your cover, I actually started searching for that type music. It is so awesomely dark and brooding and raw. I like it. This is Blues Saraceno

I like Blues Saraceno but it’s way more rock. actually the exact term for what I used to call “dark country” is more “alternative country”. which is dark anyway
