Yeah! There we go!

Loved the video and the goofiness to it… and we actually hear you swear! LOL!
I am a Patreon member for my favorite band The Birthday Massacre and every month or so, they have a livestream for their Patreons. It’s great being able to “hang out” with the band, ask them questions, and get to know them. Because of this, when I see them on tour (just saw them on 4/7/25) they know me as a person. Not a “virtual fan” or an “online fan”. They know me by name.
I had fun watching this video because it felt like you were hanging out with your fans. Maybe a livestream where you can hang out with us from here would be cool.
It’s an idea.
Both basses were sweet!
Did you go to Ochanomizu?

Two grand for a deposit on a four grand bass is macho

So speaking of Ochanomizu and Sago, I have a story.

A forum member has asked me if there were any stores in Tokyo specializing in left hand instruments. I didn’t know of any but since this is exactly the kind of thing Japan would go deep on, I was sure there would be at least one store that was the king of lefties. And sure enough, I found it - Taniguchi Gakki in Ochanomizu.

It’s on Meidai-dori in the block after most of the shops. It’s on the 3rd floor of a pretty nondescript building, and it’s full of really high quality left handed guitars and basses. Like, a really nice collection. A leftie mother lode.

And for the basses, of particular note were the Sagos and Sires. I’ll just stop talking and put up pictures but the Sago basses looked outstanding.

Some very nice looking basses!

Have you considered opening an export company in Japan ?

There is actually a guy doing this and he looks both reputable and inexpensive. Like, I would charge more than he does so there’s little point

But it’s easy enough to do yourself for most instruments so I would only use an agent for something rare.

Yeah, I know… I pinged him once, didn’t like the way he spoke, so either buying one “online”, that I know I want… like this one:

Or will take a very deep wallet and spend a week in Japan browsing and 1 week touristing

Shimamura is reputable (and I have bought from them myself) but yeah you really want to come here because those are everywhere and you could pick the one you want.

Hey! Thanks for the tour. I am not a “lefty” but I did see some thick bass straps in a couple of your pictures. So it looks like that should be fairly easy to find (I hope I can get the right color).
Thank you “Man on the Street”! Or would that be “Tori no Otoko” (通りの男)?

“Michi Otoko” totally sounds like a homeless guy

Or a cool rock band name. :open_mouth:

Not even exactly sure how I would say “man on the street” here. "道の上に男” just doesn’t work, too literal - that guy on top of the road.

I pinged him as well and told him of the two basses I would like him to find. He basically told me “those are hard” and that was that.
