This one @PamPurrs
Tina, I think you said she is your bas hero, or one of them.
I am pretty sure everything she is playing has a little bit of Octaver, and a hint of chorus, like on the 2nd song, around 8 min and again at 1 hour and 20 seconds for examples.
Maybe sometimes Envelope filter., like on the song starts about 17:15 and check again around 32:30
Unfortunately, David opens the act with Psycho Killer, but a solo version, and she doesn’t play on it, but every other time she has her bass in the performance, she has some of these FX on her tone.
I may be off on the exact effect sometimes, others here can correct me if so.
I agree Pam…I must admit I fell for the hype and have Chorus & Octaver…after few days they went into the corner. ( they are in pile for Guitar Center trade in days with 15% discount on new purchase). That said the Darkglass Hyper Luminal and Harmonic Booster focus more on tone shaping and they do have a very profound effects on Bass tone. Darkglass is famous for making only Bass distortion pedals, pre-amps, and amplifiers. Just be prepared to spend more money on both of these items than your bass or amplifier cost…these are the Ferrari of the Bass Pedal world. But hey…you do have that pile of worthless guitar (bass?) pedals to make a down payment!
Sometimes if I’m looking for specifics on which gear a certain bassist uses, this website provides useful information (sometimes misses something, but pretty good in general).
In the top left corner there is a search box if you want to go for the band or artist name;
It shows results for basses, pedals, strings, amplifiers…
With delay and reverb for those guys I often wonder how much is effect and how much is Martin Hannett making them play in some weird room. Like how he made Stephen Morris play drums on the roof.
But for Blue Monday/The Beach/etc it’s probably effect, yeah. He wasn’t working with them then IIRC (in fact I think he was suing them).
