Here is my 9v (non solar) bass amp.
Beautiful. I’m not posh enough for something like that.
I popped open the battery compartment on mine and didn’t even recognize the brand, it’s so cheap. It’s lasted months or more, likely close to a year.
Literally any battery will be fine. It doesn’t draw a lot of current.
I bought a Sire M3 last year, and I was changing the batteries every three weeks during the first three months. I decided to switch to rechargeable batteries to minimize costs… I ended up having a magnetic hatch installed on the back to make it easier to change batteries on the fly—I couldn’t see myself carrying a screwdriver with me all the time. I eventually took it to the after-sales service. Some of the preamp cables were installed backward (or something similar), and that was draining the batteries. Now, I’m back to using regular batteries, but I haven’t had to change them since March.
Coincidently enough I had to replace the batteries in my Darkray tonight. I practice with it at least an hour a night. I replaced the Energizers with Amazon batteries. It’s been about 6 months.
I had my Sire M5 battery cover converted to be magnetically attached as well. I left the screw heads only glued in place, with a tiny magnet glued into the lid beneath them. Magnets were glued into the corresponding screw holes in the body to complete the job. The battery cover is now secure but the battery compartment is also readily accessible.
My original batteries are still going strong after two and half years.
be curious to see how it looks. they didn’t keep the original cover, well they did but they glued it with some extra wood cover panel. It’s very thick and the color doesn’t match. I assume I 'd just have to paint it with the rigth Mohogany color
Nice and clean
Interesting that you left the plastic on the battery minus the contacts. Is that to keep them from leaking if they stay in past full discharge?
Nope, that’s how they came from Sire. The bass was brand new at the time of the battery lid customization.
That’s a nice looking Mayones Comodous! I bought a Cali 4 and Cali 5 for my xmas presents to myself. They have that rechargable system, too. I’m working on buying a custom short scale Comodous, but I have to wait for their sales manager to return from holidays on 2 Jan.
That’s not a Mayones.
I could make out the “C” in the name on the truss rod cover and assumed it was a Comodous, which has a similar body shape. I d/l’d the photo, rotated it and blew it up 200%. The best I can tell, it’s a Warwick Corvette.
It’s a Warwick Custom, a custom shop build.
Wow! Cool video. Gorgeous bass!
Thanks. This one took 9 months my other 2 from Lignum took over a year each.
I’m sure your moving team would consist of 2 beefy highschool kids and 5 luthiers
