I love being wrong. There’s no surprise if you’re always right. That just sounds boring.
Yep! I am consistent, if nothing else ![]()
Yeah, exactly my philosophy ![]()
I find these discussions interesting, as I learn a lot about the American mindset.
It’s innovation vs consumerism, individuality vs opportunism, freedom vs security.
I take no pleasure in being wrong, but at least it happens often. ![]()
True ![]()
Hmmmm … that’s a great idea. I will try that too ^^
Nothing wrong with the good old Scientific Method after all. But remember that some of us will try and save you some pain/expense from time to time ![]()
That’s why I’m here

Don’t clean your strings!!! The funk is in the gunk!
Isn’t the saying: “Don’t clean your beard!!! The funk is in the gunk!”??

Never know when you need a late snack!
As my dear old dad used to say;
“Advice is free, experience has to be paid for”
Your dad is a wise man
Playing the one stringed bass has a totally different non musical meaning here….
Totally different question, not very important but just curious, how was the intonation after you put the strings back?
Did it change?
Ah - I really don’t know, as I always do a full setup after putting strings on my bass.
So intonation is perfect now, but it always is after a setup…
(Can’t remember screwing around too much, the bridge that is :-))
Ah, here that’s something with a “one eyed Buddha”. Gotta love the cultural differences!
Got it off of Scott’s Bass Lessons.
I know
I’ve heard of boiling strings, but, to me, why go to the “questionable” trouble. I use Fender flats which last longer anyway, and wipe down the strings, (be sure to go under the strings), fingerboard, neck and hardware after every engagement (or set). I use no additives, Finger Ease, etc, We play kinda mellower songs, Pentecostal Gospel Sundays morning and more of a Stax/Volt sounding and rockabilly/surf stuff at my “occasional” club engagement.
I cleaned everything in my house, as well as my neighbour’s cat with the ulrasonic cleaner. It’s great!
Also for strings, of course.
Flatwound is different, as all that filth cannot get between the threads. Roundwounds have a long memory for all the dirty things I did.
Maybe I should play Gospel songs on sunday morning too, instead of coming home after a loooong night.
Things should be much cleaner that way ![]()
