Bass here, but is it “bass” or a just a stringed instrument with some thicker strings… she hardly gets below the 12th fret… (sorry, getting a bit philosophical here )
In any case, a Japanese bass player wielding a Dingwall (@howard, nudge, nudge ) and it sounds great!
It’s actually kind of humorous in retrospect. Such a distinct and yet undesirable sound
Today I always feel bad in a mix if I have to run the drums that far into the limiter or otherwise compress them that much. In the '80s we did it on purpose
But there are reasons to compress depending on the song, which is to open space in the frequencies to allow a song to breathe. I will post an example in a second (as soon as I listen to it)
This is a brilliant song to me. Bring Me the Horizon are so creative, snd it was recorded in home studios with each member of the band separate.
The mix is amazing, compression used to open space and you can hear all the instrumentation.
It is so good to hear Oli reach back to his metalcore roots, I must confess I was one of those who thought he blew his voice out; he hasn’t growled like this for a decade at least.
And the contrast between his voice and Su is just incredible. Moa has just a couple parts, but her brootal scream at the end just caps the breakdown.
The human brain likes to seek patterns, and the song constantly changes up, and in the video none of the patterns repeat, this song was crafted on so many levels.
A Kingslayer is someone who does the right thing according to Oli
I just had notice Batzorig is releasing a new song in a few hours. Batzorig is an incredible throat singer and the range of sounds he makes doesn’t seem possible.
Here he is with his daughter Maral. Just a feel good song.
Almost from OZ, an AC/DC cover. This is a new band who if my Japanese is accurate (which it isn’t) will be releasing their first album at the end of this month. But Saki on guitar is from Mary’s Blood and that is like rock royalty in Japan. I hope they do well because they are fun
