You can’t beat those old Godzilla vs. the Kiss army movies from way back in the day.

Love that bass tone.

Those guys put on a good live show. Probably relegated to county fairs these days, used to full stadiums

lol. They just released another studio album last year. Amazing.

Seems like stadium shows are only for festivals these days.
Last big show I was at was the kick off to Slayer’s farewell tour with Anthrax and others bigger names, so almost a festival.
They closed that tour at the Great Western Forum, l (where the Lakers and Kings used to play) like a year later, playing with Phil Ansyelmo and the something somethings, playing A Vulgar display of Pantera (man I wish I would have seen that) and Ministry and Primus with Slayer Headlining. Stadium yeah, almost a festival for the night but man, that would have been a great show to see, like 4 of my favorite bands in one night.

First time I saw BOC was in the gym at Bridgeport University. They put on a great show, must have been around 77. Eric Bloom had a laser attached to his wrist and shot it all over the gym, including off a mirror ball. Before lasers were regulated, light shows were incredible. ELO did some neat things with lasers too.

Only a couple of bands I have seen as often as BOC. I miss concerts.

LOL, yeah, Eric Bloom telling a story about something ancient lurking, and then the big Godzilla head with the scanning laser eyes slowly rising out of the fog behind the stage…

“…TEN THOUSAND YEARS ENCASED IN A BLOCK OF ICE!”

(crowd goes wild, Buck Dharma hits the opening chord…)

Sigh. They made Spinal Tap for a reason, it turns out

What is that bass he is playing, like an old Alembic?

When I saw them in 77, the drummer wore a rubber Godzilla head poking up 4 or 5 feet over the drum kit with glowing red eyes. Good to see them still going.

That would have been Joe Bouchard in that video and equipboard just has him using a P, which that clearly isn’t.

I just notice those two weird little horns at the butt end of the bass, where the strap plug would be, and that reminds me of most Alembic’s I see

EDIT: I have to imagine those things break alot

This is now not then, but here it is, BOC equipment walkthrough

That looks like that shitty burst that terb just got on his project bass.
Yeah, that is not what was being payed in the live video.
Not a big deal, was just wondering cuz it was not the normal bass you get used to seeing everybody play.

Not so much a bass thing, but they’ve released a 4k edition of Daft Punk’s Alive Tour concert for free on YouTube if anyone is interested. It’s one of my favorite albums. Sad they’ve retired, but the music must go on.

Hooky’s voice is really coming along.

Hooky with three of the Smashing Pumpkins touring band (one of whom is his son Jack Bates) playing Ceremony (New Order/Joy Division).

Not really a cover per se since it’s his song

Hooky is playing a BBPH, Jack is playing either a BBPH or custom BB734A (I think the former).

I kind of want one. Not enough made

I feel sorry for his back holding the bass that low…
