Yeah, bass is my party. Music was always there, but I am serious enuf to be a bass player now, and party for real with my Basses
I think it takes a character, a REAL COOL CAT, to wear a voice like that.
with the current infatuation with everybody having to be some vocal virtuoso, i always think of this song. absolutely the worst singer on earth, but one of the greatest songs and wouldnāt be nearly the same if sung by anybody else. later made famous by nirvana of course.
I know and itās awesome when it actually turns out well in their favor. Especially with rock vocalists because grit & rasp isnāt a bad thing given the style and itās desirable even.
Not much you can do about puberty affecting you unfortunately. But there are things people can do to to minimize problems later. Sometimes their voice is the last thing they worry about when there are other issues too much partying caused.
If anything Iām talking to myself so I donāt fall into similar patterns even if I do think Iām being strict enough with myself & my music.
Maybe I can bump my drinking day down to once a month instead of once every 2 weeks followed by 2 days of taming a hangover, because thatās how you end up stuck playing tug of rope with your hangover.
Sobriety is a tricky business. The one thing that worked for me is having other people to hold you accountable. Thatās it, basically. Some days are really tough, but for the most part, itās pretty easy when compared to the days Iād stop drinking for two weeks or whatever, and go nuts on the weekend. It gets easier because itās less fun, too. If itās still fun for you, and youāre not hurting anyone, tune your dials to what keeps it there. My dials broke off a few years ago, so I just decided quitting was easier than losing things I actually care about.
Thatās probably where Iām at now. I actually feel pretty productive in those 2 days drinking a bit while recording followed by that first day of shit face. Other days Iām just pissed off because if I didnāt drink Iād have more saved up for gear.
So I look at the thing thatās giving me some fun as something thatās actually ultimately getting in the way of my fun because pouring alcohol into my pockets with holes isnāt helping me pull new bass guitars out of them months down the line. Itās only making my crotch smell like whiskey.

Sorry to derail. Hereās some good music for the ass crack of Friday morning. Ocean themed Doom Metal with amazing clean vocals. Donāt worry there are gutturals too and they are great as well.
From this album which is definitely worth your time.

Awesome - Liveās bass lines arenāt simple - would love to hear your cover when youāre doneā¦
Well gee, I appreciate the vote of confidence! Iām admittedly not quite as quick with the hammer-ons, and that 3/5 breakdown has my hands a bit confused since Iām used to avoiding harmonics when I do that flat-finger technique buuuuuuut⦠I REALLY gotta grab some downtime and join you guys in posting more of my practices!
Babymetalās song that itās okay to be different. Their acceptance of diversity is a recurring theme in their songs.
The superimposed logo seems to short circuit the YouTube copyright algorhythm. FYI
This reminds me, I learned the other day that Shiren (guitarist for Unlucky Morpheus, and formerly Yousei Teikoku) was one of the original guitar kami in KamiBand. I wasnāt aware of that.
Yeah, Shiren played in the Legend I concert, the first appearance of the Kami. It has an almost punk feel to it. Arai Hiroki was the other guitar with Ryo on bass and Shin on drums.
Heās a great guitarist. Good for him for recognizing his limitations while not letting the injury keep him down.
Love AHAB, so intense

one of the best theme songs ever!
That Shaft theme is one bad mother ------
So, I stumbled across these guys some time ago. They are the premier Simpsons-metal band going, right now. And yes you read that last sentence correctly. This is a song off of their new album, āIām a Stupid Moron With an Ugly Face and a Big Butt and My Butt Smells and I Like to Kiss My Own Buttā
Reminds me a bit of another late 70s/early 80s classic from the UK - The Professionals:

Bodie was such a bad ass
Tbh. Professionals were one of big hits in Czech tv in 90s (like a lot of series from behind the curtain). I saw so many parts of that, even remember a few particular plots and scenes. It definitely had that 70s charm to it.
