No kidding… I like spiders… I have wanted a pet tarantula for years but my son (12) threatens to move out of the house whenever the topic gets raised since he freaks out at the itty bitty ones that live in the bathroom on occasion and makes me evict them to the garage.
Even I might take pause at letting a huntsman hang out in the house though…
Just tell your kid that tarantulas aren’t true spiders and he should be okay with them 
He might not listen though

lol, that would be beside the point, I can hear the response now: “So!!! They are still terrifying!!” I even tried getting him on board by starting with freaking adorable jumping spiders (which even he admits are adorable) but he was still wiggy about it…
I blame the preschool he was at freaking the kids out about a black widow that got spotted in the sand pit. I appreciate their eye to safety but whatever message they wanted to get across got a little too well embedded and he’s been freaked out about all bugs ever since.

I lived in South Carolina for a couple decades, and I bet I can find where black widows live in every house. What people don’t know
