That bass has two quality finishes that are ruined by combining them. ![]()
Too bad. It’s a good looking bass otherwise.

Sorry, not a fan of Fender’s countless burst finishes…vintage burst, tobacco burst, antique burst, violin burst, sienna burst, amber burst, brown burst, mystic burst, bourbon burst, cognac burst, black lager burst, 2-color sunburst, 3-color sunburst, chocolate 2-color burst, chocolate 3-color burst, anniversary burst, retro burst, autumn burst, burnt umber burst, raw umber burst, chestnut burst, mahogany burst, western saddle burst, root beer burst, birch beer burst, etc, but I do like their reverse-burst finishes. I like this Sire, too…sue me!
i really like that black and orange one! i like the blue one sire did too
That orange one is killer
IMO, that tort pickguard looks terrible on that bass. I’d replace it with a clear one in a heartbeat. I like that wood grain.
this is the way
Agreed; and a rosewood fretboard
New SB-2? I also prefer their maple fretboards over the rosewood.
I got one of each; Both B stock and both minimal flaws. Biggest flaw on the frost black one it the ‘2’ stamp over the serial number. Biggest flaw on the surf green is the dwell mark on the apex of the ‘bottle opener’ apex.
Agreed, except that I’ve recently learned about Richlite fretboards, like the one on my newest purchase, a Henrix Guitars Constance 5.
Richlite Black Diamond Bass Fretboard
The have a LOT of guitar fretboard colors. Here’s the other currently available bass fretboard in Maple Valley.
I was thinking more for color, but thanks for the information on those type of fretboards.
Yeah, the guitarists have a lot of choices for Richlite colors, but we bassists only have two at the moment. Sigh.
I think of richlite as the cheap countertop stuff.
Is it a fish, or is it a parrot? ![]()
