Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

After posting about this on the Bass Porn thread I decided to see if there were any at Guitar Center, you know for fun. They had one but it had one too many strings. Still fell in love with it. So I looked on Reverb to see if there were any used ones…

Almost 50% off and one week later, here we are!

Oh that’s sharp!

I actually bought it off of someone from Illinois! You folks have fine taste in Basses over there

My only slight concern is that it’s seeming to drop out of tune very quickly - I assume that has to do with shipping or something? Either way I’m having my techie buddy come over to check it out/help me swap out the strings and whatnot.

Which strings are you going to put on?

I’m still pretty new (1 month) so I figured some Ernie Ball Slinky Regular Roundwounds (50 - 105) would be a good fit.

I have NYXL’s but I have a pair of Slinky regular in the drawer waiting to be up next. I hear bends are much easier with Slinky’s.

Nice! There are a few nice shops, especially near Chicago. Jim Peterik, formerly of Survivor, has mentioned them many times online and in his book.

Give it a week before you worry about tuning or truss rod adjustments, needs to stabilize.

Beauty of a bass BTW

Great advice, I’ll take it to heart

I’ve just put a new pickguard on my jazz. It’s pretty colourful shall we say, but I really like it

Well old Geezer has got to me.

I found a used Squire Classic Vibe P bass in Surf Green, listed in excellent condition really cheap. I’ve been looking for one for a bit, and found this today. I have an EMG coupon so ordered a Geezer pickup for it. I thought about Red Devils for strings but thought that wouldn’t go so just good old fashioned black strings will do. I’m down to 3 basses in the house, 4 if you include the Blue Jazz which I am selling. So maintaining status quo.

Nice find @Wombat-metal
And the pup will certainly be a cool addition

Love it. Where did you pick it up

LOL - I started googling these too after watching the video. But I exercised some self control and shut the computer.

I was googling them before I saw the video. I saw a nice Player P Bass in Tidepool, resisted that.

Did I miss something? I thought it was your favorite.

The Sire V7 plays very nice, that rolled fretboard is a thing and being active it has a whole smorgasbord of tones. I have a paranormal Jazz coming in, getting Seymour Duncan Apollo pickups.

Blu, which is what I named her, the only bass I have named, lacks a purpose. Maybe I will just focus on what to do with her. Maybe go full modern with her. Mabe 5 basses isn’t unreasonable.

This is why I love this forum, a check on my bad ideas.

Not trying to talk you in to keeping it (and I would sell in this case too), I was just surprised

All I have are really good basses. I expect the Paranormal to be exceptional with the upgrades, as will my black Jaguar.

The Sire is kind of an all around bass with the preamp.

The PBass with a Geezer pickup will be a banger.

Blue Jag with the medium scale is super easy to play, limited with one pickup and no preamp but for learning and tooling around really good. And portable.

What to do about a bass named Blu.
