I’ve always thought the ESP B-series looked awesome, especially in natural wood. Nice instruments.
They feel pretty good too. I do not like them in black. Natural, yes. And I was lucky with the wood grain
My favorite B-series in the LTD line has always been the B-1004:
followed closely by the B-4:
Pickups in the B-1004 are interesting:
I literally have no time for a 6-string…yet.
I haven’t even spent a lot of time on my 5er yet.
I am sure one day, but I have so many things I want to do now that it is far away yet.
That said, its a really really good price, and I love a deal.
If I were to pick something I do not like about the B200 series is the pickups. They sound okay, but I have to crank the gain up on them as the volume is low.
Same pickup as in my Stream 204, which sounds great, but in my b204 and B206 they are very soft in volume. I was thinking about pickup upgrade, Nordies would be just fine. Was actually thinking of them before you brought it up.
Yeas thats the one I have. Just is it from 2017, slightly different top / side stains, so it makes it look more of a 2 tone. I actually prefer the 2017 finish to the current one, but as far as the isstrument, it is, has always been and always will be one of the best purchases I ever made, especially since I got such a great deal on it based in it being NEW / OLD STOCK.
I got it for $380 which was appox 1/2 price if you get it from a shop that works with you on price, or when it is on sale, because it is a $699 retail IIRC, or possibly $799.
I can say it is very bit worth any penny sent. is feels so solid, yet it is light, and the hardware is great, tuners hold tune for day. It is a neck thru design, which is my personal preference, so there is not much anything I can think of bad to say about it.
I like the stock pick ups (ESP DESIGN) and the pre-amp gives great tonal range. It can send a bit thin if you play just the dry signal, but if you have any sort of pre-amp pedal, you can get it t growl a bit more.
regardless, it feels so damn good to play, and even sounds beautiful unplugged, it is just a bass that I find so hard to put down. I have it by my side at least once a day, and when I mean by my side, I mean I pick igup an plait some.
I highly recommend that bass if you are looking into it.
I am sure th B-1004 has the extra features that make he price hike very worth it, and if thats what you want out of the box, then go for that one as well.
If I were to do anything to mine, I think I might go with active pick up and keep the simple 3 knobs for the active pick up controls (inactive controls, they are out there, but it is overkill, and active pickups are stellar on their own. )
That said, I have not thought about changing the pick ups and don’t have much intention to, so I am not even sure what active pick ups are out there for dual doapbar pick ups, but it would turn the active controls into volume / volume and probably blend. Possibly a switch to change from active to passive, but not sure exactly how it would be configured.
I will have to start looking. that might be a project to put on the short list.
Yeah they just look like super good, high quality instruments.
Good to see you back @T_dub
Ooh, new BB! You’ll love it, top notch instrument.
Well, the dude would only take cash, wouldn’t tell me his name or give me his number before meeting him in Harlem at night, so I took it as a sign not to get it. Probably for the better. Will save the pennies towards a T-40 That I am awaiting a good clean one of.
Is that a Peavey T-40 you’d be hunting for, @John_E ?
Here is one, though you’d have to ship it. The USD to CAD exchange rate would be good though:
Yeah, have not decided what color yet.
The reds are stellar looking but end up costing a bit more than the naturals (other front runner) as not as many. Not digging the burst though.
Waiting for one in really good condition in the right color etc, being patient, cause I really really don’t need another bass, hahahaha.
NONE of us need any more basses. This is precisely why I bought two.
thanx @howard i already do love it just by looking at this peace of art
Mmmmmm… pretty blue!
Yeah, love that color!
