D’Addario strings have those exact colored ball ends. I like them a lot as well.

I’m not very active on the forums here, but I have a new bass that I’m pretty excited about, so I finally have something to share!

So…my birthday is this weekend, and this is my gift from my husband: it’s one of the EBMM Tim Commerford Artist Series StingRay basses - the vintage sunburst short-scale with passive pickups - and wow does it play nice. BIG difference from the Ibanez Mikro I bought this summer after a 12-year hiatus from playing. :astonished: :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Congrats on an awesome bass and happy birthday!

I maybe had a hand in picking this one out. TL;DR version: SO MANY of the other basses I was eyeing were just not available, and then this one was, so…he’s very enabling in an “if you want it and we can afford it, you should just get it” way.

I am definitely not complaining :joy:

a bit better of a pic of my Xcellerator X64:

Ever since I started learning with B2B my technique has improved to the point that I can play it and barely even notice the extra strings o.O the 6 was a little intimidating (I still call it The Beast lol… it’s big and heavy). Been using it for today’s lesson grinding

I think that strap looks pretty great on it, though

It has gotten some fret sprout since I last played it, unfortunately. It isn’t sawing my fingers off, but I’ll need to find someone to address it eventually :unamused:

Happy Birthday Emma. That is a great gift, and #9 of 50. Wow, that will be a lifer, and something to bass down some day. Keep it in the family for a long long time. I love Timmy C. and love Stingrays, I am very envious, that is a shorty that I would probably play.

P.s. How do you like the finger ramp? I think they are going to get more popular now that his signature basses have them. At least among stingray fans that pay attention to that.

Yeah, I’m definitely taking good care of this one. Honestly I’m still a little stunned that I have one when there are only 50 :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I like the finger ramp so far, it’s comfortable. Getting a little bit of harmonic ringing though, so I’m curious to see if that still happens with the ramp lowered… I’m kind of a newb, so it totally could be technique. Will have to play with it a bit and see :woman_shrugging:

Pickup could be too close to strings as well. That type of sound generally tells me (at least) that the pickup is a bit too hot.

Hey @Koldunya , I don’t need anything with more than 4 strings . . .

And I can sure see why you call it “The Beast” . . . and the strap goes very nicely.

But for some reason, I really feel drawn to it :thinking: Maybe it’s the way the headstock, body, and fret marker blocks are the same color? That neck looks SO wide, though {lol}

Yes indeed, I would get those fret wires smoothed out professionally ! Good luck with it and please let us know how it feels afterwards.

Cheers
Joe
