Show Us Your Basses (Part 1)

Nice. Schecter makes nice stuff. We’ll turn you into a hair metal dude next

Gotta have hair, first.

Looks great!

(starts timer to see how long until this one has issues and is gone).

Sorry man, history is history.
We all have our quirks, lol, I’ve got enough for the entire forum, lol.

No, I totally get it. My GF almost blew her top when I came home with this.

But, it has a lifetime warranty for the original owner. So if I sell it, the warranty goes. That’s a strong impetus to keep it, aside of the fact that I gel with it really well.

Does your wife ever worry you will come home with a new one?
If I were her I’d be looking over my shoulder all the time.

So…no new pickguard for the Dimension?!

My head hurts.

I sincerely hope you love, cherish and hold onto your new bass. Congrats.

Wow, I’ve heard the same thing about GC trade in. I hope the Schecter serves you well.

With all the stuff I have gone through I offer no judgement

So… I’m not offended, at all, but maybe jokes about wives/GFs/SOs should be skipped.

That said, how many basses and how much equipment do you have? What is the fundamental difference between what I’ve done and what you’ve done, other than I don’t keep what I buy for very long and sometimes have second thoughts?

I mean, we’re all pretty nuts when it comes to bass GAS around here. Some of us just process it differently, is all.

And I don’t mind the ribbing, and I expect it (I used to play a court jester at renaissance fairs and my motto was “I would rather they have laughed at me than not laughed at all”), I just felt the above needed to be said.

I don’t mind rubbing about my issue with collecting. My old roommates you to say that if they wanted something for the house they just had to talk about it enough in front of me and it would appear.

There really is no difference. Except I think I pick things that I keep longer term. Your on a quest to find your dream bass, and being nit picky is good in that regard. I have no perfect dream bass nor sax. I like variety.

Fwiw, I’m on wife #4, although never married one twice. Lol

At least with a Schecter you have standard 35EMG size pickups and can swap them out in your quest fot the perfect sound. Want a Jazz bass? They make Jazz pickups in soapbars. Precision pickups. Humbuckers. World is your oyster in one bass

The last of the “master plan” (that I made up as I went along) basses has arrived.

Mark Sandman tribute 2-string slide bass by Dan Thompson at Guns & Guitars.

If you don’t know, Mark was lead singer and bassist for Morphine, a bass/drummer/baritone trio who passed away a while ago onstage while performing of a heart attack at 46.

Looks fantastic and feels great. Going to let it acclimate before I tune it up. Since it’s tuned D A (low-high) Dan went through a few string brands before finding one that could take the higher tensions.

Time to learn something very different.

I have. I’m on wife no #1. However she’s a lawyer, so the best I’m going to do if we ever split are the clothes I’m wearing and maybe my P Bass. Oh and maybe this ashtray and the paddle game and the remote control.

I have a buddy who’s second wife was his lawyer he used in his divorce from his first wife.
Let’s just say divorce #2 didn’t go well and he learned a valuable lesson he should have probably known beforehand. Lol.
