I really wish I could be there. Sounds like a lot of fun. SoCal is only a 12 hour drive for me I think. Maybe next time.

Yep, the tree lined streets make it feel more like midwestern home. We almost never leave the island. I’ll make it across the bridge to San Francisco maybe twice a year. Once for work and once to see blues at The Saloon.
The local Alameda All Stars band consisted mostly of players who would tour with Greg Allman. Brad Gillis and Night Ranger would show up with them too at the local hangs. One of the guys I used to work with at Sennheiser played in the All Stars and is married to Brad Gillis’ sister (not sister Christian).

Totally! I lived mid-Central for a while and it was like a place out of time. And inexpensive compared with the rest of the Bay Area too.

Prices are probably more in line with the Bay Area by now. Speisekammer is still there, but Park Street business is starting to struggle. Quite a few places stay empty after they go out.

I know it’s not practical. If we don’t have any kids my wife and I would be hopping on a plane and go eat somewhere and spend a night or 2. Now? Furgteit.

Sounds like fun! Is it common practice to bring a favorite bass or two? Where is the meeting place? If I’m not mistaken, Orange county, Irvine or Costa Mesa area? I’m just down the road in north SD county.
