The FX-600 is an absolute classic 
It’s what I have now too. Though yeah, if I used it more I would probably get an 888. That’s going to be like a better Weller station.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned above is to cover the body of the bass when you’re soldering.
An errant splash of hot solder or flux could potentially mar the finish permanently.
A dry, non-flammable, towel is sufficient. Nothing fancy needed.
