Spark 40 amps

I am interested to hear what people think of these.
I have the headphones and they get a fair bit of use.
I am wondering what these offer in addition, eg the AI playalong etc and if it is worth having.
There is a sale on and they are about 1/2 price; $272 AUD (probably because there is a newer version coming)

New version already came out.

Love the 40, early batches had so,e issues with headphone ports, I went through 3 of them. Positive grid were great, they sent replacement before I returned it. On the app, there are a lot of jam tracks. Your songs comes with chords and your effects preset is ready to launch at any time.

The amp is warm enough for bass. My daughters are using them great Bluetooth speakers too.

Cool,
Thinking of giving it a go,
Saw Josh’s review from a few years ago and someone else linked to a vid where it was being used as an amp head with a cable to the return.
That is a pretty good price.

I think you can try the app now, I use the app without the device all the time.

Is the AI play along worth it?

I don’t do AI especially for music, but if it’s built in under the hood, sure. worth it? Yeah, it helps at least breaking down the chords. Most of the time on the new songs that’s what I need to get going.

It’s a better tool than Songsterr for me. Songsterr needs a lot of work when it comes to tab/ notation. I uploaded a few song with accurate tabs. I subscribed to the premium but now just dropped back, it’s not worth it. Actually I was on the Zoom call with the developer for an hour, but I didn’t really see my input get to put in use. It’s not for bass player.

When I had mine, it was a known issue that the DAI just… didn’t work. I worked with Positive Grid support and all sorts of forums and just… nope.

I have the Spark Neo and it has been great if just using the preset channels but the app tends to stop occasionally. Would not trust it for live performances.

I used songsterr premium just to print out bass tabs for any song I ever enjoyed. Three binders full, one big one for guitar and two 400 pagers for bass two-sided prints. Saves paper but the refills are not cheap.
