Totally fair! That’s healthy confusion.
I don’t think you can go safely between the two tunings. Tuning a .055 up to a G can be tough on a neck. Going back and forth can be real tough.
Sounds like… time for a new bass for the alt tuning?
You can blame it on me.

So…you’re telling me that you can switch from E to C standard without any issue on a single bass if you would?

Not exactly sure if there is a question there. To clarify, my BEAD set up uses what amounts to a 5 string set up minus the G string. Ernie Ball makes a set specifically for a 4 string bass, 130/100/85/65.
