I stand corrected.
You’re not entirely wrong though! The tone is definitely there, but if what you are looking for is that chest-thumping punch a loud bass amp will give you, that isn’t (nor should it be). These are monitors and don’t move as much air as a bass amp, even if they have a better tonal range (both low end and high end).
These are not toys. My pair is 160W total and very, very loud if I want them to be.
Here’s a graph for them (I have seen others that look pretty much the same). It hits -3dB at about 49Hz.
Here’s a Rumble 100. For him it hits -3dB at close to 60 Hz.
I love this one because he miked the speaker. A lot of the tests you see for Fender stuff on places like TalkBass that look flatter are actually just the preamp through an effects send or DI out. Fender uses cheap speakers, and this reflects that.
Other interesting things there, it shows the classic flat EQ Fender Scoop (their traditional sound), and also that this guy has an awful room resonance at about 700Hz, right in the middle of it.
Like, all of these:

…are just the preamp out the FX Send. Good to visualize EQ settings, very very bad to understand what the amp actually sounds like. The cab and speaker quality matters a lot.
Yep, this is the main reason I want some. I wear headphones for work calls, a fair bit of my casual music listening and for most of my guitar/bass practice. I need to get them off occasionally ![]()
