Just to let you all know, this coming weekend will be the 7th Anniversary of Talkingbass and I’ll be running a 2 week sale. So anyone looking to purchase any courses this week should hold off until Saturday!
I’ve taken quite a few of Mark’s courses in conjunction with B2B, and they’ve helped me tremendously.
i see pam on the fb page for them all the time. i recently signed up for the unlimited access and am working my way through chord tones. mark is a good teacher. being this is josh’s forum i would of course agree that the place to start is josh’s course, but there is room for more than one teacher in the world. and if, like me, you’ve finished b2b it is a nice next step. i will say it is pretty pricey though if you purchase individual courses. and if you want to sign up for the unlimited access i was under the impression that you could not download any course material which it turns out is wrong - you cannot VIEW any course material, you only get the videos, which makes it much more problematic. of course you can just buy the courses ala carte and get all the material if you wish.
@itsratso that’s the reason I chose to purchase individual courses rather than the all access pass… so I could download the material. I have found the materials to be an invaluable reference, even long after I’ve finished the course.
(I’ve purchased 6 different courses during the past year, all during one of Mark’s sales)
yeah and i thought that’s what it was, that you can’t download the material. i swear i heard that somewhere. but you can’t even view the material, no tabs, no sight reading, nothing. it makes it much more difficult.
So if you purchase an all access pass you basically have it harder and can’t download the material?
Is it just me or is this business model for an “all access” pass kind of weird?
He talked about it, and I get it. If you could download the material you could pay for a month, download everything and cancel and basically get everything on the sight for $20 bux.

I’m only about half way thru B2B at this point, but I know I prefer some sort of guided practice vs “self-study”, and therefore am going to need something once B2B is “finished”.
Since the sale is happening, I figured I’d sign up for a course now, and get to it when I get to it.
So, for those that have done a few, which course would you recommend for someone who recently finished B2B? I was thinking Scales or Chord tones, but am open to others…
I did the TalkingBass scales course concurrently with my B2B course, and it was surprisingly helpful. Next, I did Chord Tones course, followed by the Walking Baselines course. I’m currently doing the “Very Long and rigorous” Sight Reading course.
Mark does have sales periodically, and I managed to purchase all my courses during a sale to save money.
Hi I wondered if anyone knows when the courses come on sale at talkingbass… Would be annoying if I bought a course straight away when I finish only to find theres a sale a month after lol
Late to the party here but when I did the All Access Pass about 6 months ago it did include all the course material for each course, it was just embedded on each lesson page along with the lesson video. The tab/sight reading material is displayed on the page below the video and all backing tracks/audio are soundcloud embeds on the page as well. The idea being you could view all the materials on the site as long as you were paying for the All-Access, but when you stopped you could no longer access them. Of course there are sneaky ways to “download” them from the lesson page yourself but I avoided the temptation as I want to support quality content providers like Mark (and Josh).
Anyway I wonder what was going on with your All-Access because all course materials were definitely available on the site when I did it. The $18/month is totally worth it if you invest the time. I completed 3 of his courses and half of Sight Reading for like $90 total. Of course I kind of sped through them and sometimes wish I could still access the Chord Tones course materials, so it’s definitely a trade-off.
@bjams the difference is, you can’t download the PDFs, which to me is worth the price of the course. You view the material on your monitor with the all access pass, you just can’t download it.
Right, same with backing tracks too I assume. I always do lessons sitting in front of my computer so wasn’t a problem for me, but definitely something to consider.
Yes, same with backing tracks. I download them into a special folder on my laptop so I can play them through my system speakers in the music room and play along with them.
Again, just the downloads are worth the price of the course (but I insist you wait until the next sale).
Just FYI: Mark has recently said that he is in process of upgrading his website and that the all access pass will not survive the change. Won’t work with the new website architecture, apparently.
That is correct @sfadams, I’ve been trying to explain that to people who are griping about the AAP going away. Mark has explained it numerous times on his live feeds, it just won’t work on the revamped website.
