The journey to my own first Bass Guitar

I wonder if this is why my 504 is always in passive mode
Can’t remember the last time I played it in active mode.

Active gives you a lot more tone control, but the bass has a nice passive sound too, for sure. Very good pickups.

That may be but I like the passive sound a lot more and that is all that matters to me.
As a bonus I do not need to worry about the 9V battery going flat on me

Sorry to change the subject back to the subject, but I pulled the trigger in the PRS Kestrel SE. It is a new old stock 2017 model so I saved a considerable amount and the guitar is basically unchanged over that time.

Never came across a PRS bass as of yet. It looks good. Hope it sounds just as good.

Don’t forget to add pics of the headstock. They can make or break the desire to have a particular bass.

Nice. Is it neck through or a set neck? Sorry for being lazy and not checking myself.

Neck through

And string thru body. You should get some solid tone with that. Enjoy.

It has a great sound and I don’t think I could find a nicer bass for me for that price.

Nice work on getting a made in Korea SE. The Indonesia-made ones are great too but the Korean ones are basically MIJ-level quality. I almost owned a PRS guitar, I bought a PRS SE Custom 24, but the deal fell through, unfortunately.

Nice buy! Are those Roto flats on it? I love the sound.

I got lucky to find one this old still in a store and unsold.

When I asked about the strings, they were not sure, but thought they were the regular sling bass.

When people ask my opinion on laptops, I can ask price range, OS, size/weight, specs, etc, but ultimately I end up saying, “now go to BestBuy and type on a bunch of them.”

This absolutely should be your guide. It satisfies your ears AND your hands? Lovely.

PRS makes fantastic guitars, I am sure their basses are great too.

Love the looks (and pickup choice  ) of that Kingfisher. Nice humbucker tone on that thing.

I tried the Kingfisher too, but it did not fit me as well as the Kestrel.
