Last Friday the kid was doing Irish dance demos all over the place for St. Pat’s day.
One of them was at a winery with a pizza food truck.
Being gluten and dairy free pizza is really no longer a thing.
However - this truck had a gluten free crust and a dairy free cheeze, so I figured I would give it a try. I have tried a lot of fake cheese, and they all suck, so I did not have high hopes.
It was one of the best things I have ever eaten - so there is a new hope for pizza in my life, just have to follow this truck around, lol.
My St. Patricks day was similar. My daughter was dancing in two parades. Her troop led one parade and when they reached the end of the route there was a bus waiting to bring them to join the back of the next parade.
She barely moved on the Saturday.
Based on the look of the crust and sausage size… I’m going to guess Domino’s. It could be an independent shop but I’m not so sure…
You got it! I’m impressed!
I couldn’t tell you the last time I had a Domino’s pizza but the large sausage chunks is a pretty sure sign it’s them.
I don’t really mess with chain pizza anymore, even independent shops don’t see me very often. I am almost always making my own!
I’m super glad to hear you found some pizza you can enjoy @John_E - I’ve been asked a few times by folks if I could make GF/DF pizza for them… However, it is a HUGE difficulty curve to get it right so I’ve simply not bothered to try. It might be time to visit that decision.
I have a pretty bad habit of eating before I realize that I should snap a picture first. Lol. Gotta start doing that.
Now that I know it’s possible, I might start experimenting myself too!
Well, if we ever manage to organize a physical B2B get-together, we know who will take care of catering
Well, you and @cheeze_pizza and some of you BBQ experts from down under
Looks like a delicious banquet!
Now I feel bad. That’s lunch for 2, lol.
For 2 what?
I am totally down for dinner at Casa de Al
My wife and I were talking about getting another restaurant with different concept. Something small and local, so my kids can really spend their time learning the craft. I’m debating between modern breakfast, or Eurasian pasta bar set in a 80’s style small Japanese coffee shop. Sadly, my only reference is from my comic books days, lol.
These are pretty popular here. Little mom and pop places serving Japanese takes on western food.
Yeah! I’m going full circle on the fusion dish, and now the idea lands back on that inspiration. I love the coziness of the setting.
This sounds really cool.
Have you guys (especially paging Nippon-dwelling expats here) ever seen the Japanese movie “Tampopo”? It’s from the 80s and introduced me here in Western Europe to the Japaneses sense of humor (well, at least the 80’s sense of humor) and the Japanese “attitude” towards food.
It’s about a female restaurant owner who wants to learn how to make the best ramen possible. But, that’s just the central story, which is surrounded by smaller “scenes” about food, often with a whacky kind of humor. I remember a scene where upper class (Japanese) girls are trained how to eat spaghetti without making a mess and this Westerner barges in, famished and craving Western food and wolves down a bowl of pasta without any grace at all, totally obliterating the intended education of the girls.
Anyway, it’s a little gem from the 80s:
