Transcribing help needed

The more important question is what level do you think it is?

I think its totally do able for me givern practice time is put in.
It’s like any song that used to seem almost improbable and now it’s doable, coming along okay or totally feeling good about it.

With tabs it will be so much faster.
Would you tab it up for the team?

Difficult yes, doable definitely…

I’d love to tab this one out but I’m in the middle of transcribing 2 songs right now and unlike the experts this process takes a while for me and time is something I don’t have much anymore, :joy:

Here’s the next best thing I can help you. It’s easy enough to play it slow
here’s one at 75% speed

And another at 60%

You don’t want to go any slower than this as you’d lose the swag and audio quality.

Have fun!

I only found this late last night and my total views are about 20ish.
There’s been more time thinking about it and yakking about it here on the forum.
The vid you posted is great, however with that bpm
If I had the tabs I’m sure I could play that right away with the tabs and have it decent in time…

Time and timing in life and bass.

If you have the time in the future and decide to do it, all good.
If it gets done elsewhere I’ll make sure to post it right away.

I’ve tried to load it on to songsterr but it seems they don’t do shorts.

Swag, Haha I’m like white man can’t jump, Steve Martin in the jerk. Haha did you see him dance?
I find swag and groove often a little later, I just plod through and after awhile it starts to feel.

This is what RipX “transcribed” automatically. Didn’t check it, but it might be a start??!

I think that the descending 16th is similar if not same as this one. And here’s the tab for that

Yeah exactly. Plus the real learning here is how she came up with the line and jammed it out, not really the specific notes she plays. Things like this, some artists don’t even play the exact same way twice.

That looks super interesting, I wish i were at home.
And thanks for doing it,
It’s going to be a bit above me but with tabs it’s just a matter of keep trying.

And thanks again, now I know about Ripx.

Bingo. Great for showing off…IF you can nail it but a transcription alone won’t do it. She’s an exceptional talent who didn’t get there overnight or by starting out trying to devise something like that. Good luck learning the process. Should be both fun and very frustrating.

Hahaha, It’s not about showing off, for me bass is for me… Band play, stage play, living room play I’m not greatly interested.
Perhaps I might be if my home was like Darrell’s house, (see YT).
The transcription alone won’t do it alone and never has but its almost always where I start, and you can’t have a finish without a start.
First the notes on paper, then just keep trying, when the mega frustration hits hard that’s when your close to success or surrender.
First I plod, then after sometimes massive practice I can hear the outline, more practice and the groove can be heard periodically, more practice = more groove and flow, then after a couple hundred tries I look back and think how it once seemed on the edge of impossible while slamming it out.
Easily admitted this right now looks almost daunting and even the tabs that were generated are more than I’m used to, but there was time I didn’t know what a tab was.
Overall, its the coolest 15 seconds of bass maybe ever, so why not?

I just changed the neck on my P bass and going play it for awhile then tidy up the intonation latter. Thanks for your input…
Are you going to take a shot at the 15 second bass solo?

That’s why I wish you luck with it. It’s a bold endeavor. One I would not even think of tackling so my hat’s off to you. At my age I don’t see things as I used to. If I have no practical use for learning something I lack the motivation or patience to take it on. That’s what old age can do to a guy. LOL We get lazier as we age.

If we’re lucky, we get lazier more judicious as we age.

Also, practicality is subjective. One man’s quest is another man’s folly.

Unsolicited advice to OP: You would do yourself a favor to run this bass line to ground yourself. :man_shrugging:

We hope to get more judicious. If we pay attention to the past sometimes we do.

Yep, first, comes hope. But luck is the ultimate determinant.

All we can do is try.

I’ve done just that and now play about 1/3 of it at 25% while working on the next note.
I can play the opening 5 seconds at about 40% speed, the chords are slowing me down but better by the attempt.
Some of the moves I haven’t done before, however I am happy to hear it as very recognizable to the original with the short times I’ve tried.
