The TRBX504/604 is also a much better instrument than the Ray2x line - it’s closer to the Ray34.

thats great advice, thanks!

Thank you all for your insights, prompt responses and time!
Last night i went to my local GC and tried the trbx174 (a poor proxy for the 304/504), a ray34, a ray24ca and a sub4.

I spent a couple of hours there and ultimately kept going back to a mint green sting ray sub4!

I enjoyed the sound and surprisingly appreciated the lower weight as well.
There was certainly something about the ray34ca that made it my number 2, but not enough for me to justify the price delta today.

Got it home and set it up with the Mustang micro plus to work with my headphones and i was so impressed with it all!

Looking forward to learning to play this amazing instrument!

So you went with the Sub4? Great pick! (Not that you had any bad ones.) Have fun playing!

Remember to leave it unplugged. The battery “switch” is the cable jack. Leaving it plugged in will drain the battery. Keep a spare 9v handy.

Low weight is very nice. Looking up specs, the TRBX174 is really heavy, at around 12 lbs. The TRBX504 is similar weight to the SUB 4.
