Love everything about it. Ibanez classic headstocks rule. Actually, so do their modern ones.

Their modern ones look like Yamaha headstocks to me (which is ok) but, it looks “basic” (sorry folks, it’s an aesthetic thing for me), nothing flashy. I’ve always loved the “arrowhead” look of the Ibanez guitars (or that old classic “swoosh” one that was retired). I told myself if I ever saw one of those older headstock Ibanez basses, I’d get it… if it’s within a decent financial range for me.
To my surprise when I saw this used bass sitting there, it had a price of $229. I immediately grabbed it and took it to the counter and purchased it. I had to wait their clearance days to make sure it wasn’t stolen goods or anything. When the time passed, I went to get it and that’s when I noticed the action was shot to hell. Took it to the luthier and he checked it out. It needed a setup (which I figured) and the tone controls were not working; he’d fix that too. I asked him to slap some Black Beauties strings on there just because.
A week and a half later (yesterday), I went to pick it up.
Bass: $229
Setup: $70
Tone control repair: $45
Strings: $33
Total: $377
A bit more than what I wanted to pay (I could’ve done without the cooler looking black strings on an all black bass) but I am happy with it. It’s so light, the polished neck is slick and it’s just fun to play. I just wish I was better at bass to give it the justice it needs.

Is it MIJ? If so it was very likely made for Ibanez by either Fujigen or Dyna and would be a tough bass to beat. Love it.

not much! I think this had to be a Grassroots model. He calls it “Custom” because he modded it to turn the volume pot into a tone knob.
