This is what I would do rather than flashdance the bass up with a crunchie like some people do.
There are various models of 3-strings retainers, I like this one because it looks more narrow than others

I actually like the look (and placement) of these much more than the originals.

Yeah I agree. Looks like a real improvement compared to the original 50’s style big round Fender retainer.

73x and higher, my 434 has a 2 string tree.
Funny, I have noticed this issue on both of my basses. Kinda just been living with it, now I think i will check the A string.
