I’m just saying that “humbucker” refers to a pickup architecture but not a level of quality or a specific dimension. not sure I’ve been clear.

In order of number of coils, I’ve owned:
two dual humbucker basses
One P/J
One J/J
which is also my general order of preference
To be fair to the P/J I would have liked the specific bass more without the J and with a slightly repositioned P pickup. P pickups are awesome. This is also specific to that bass as well as it is already very bright and growly even without the bridge J.
I’ve sort of just discovered that for what I like, single coil J pickups are just not my thing. It definitely varies from bass to bass though.
