Steve Martin rocks it on the banjo!
Ever since I heard him play on his “Wild n Crazy Guy” album I’ve loved his playing.
I love Wednesday Campanella, and their singer Utaha; breath of fresh air.
Songs are Edison and Little Red Riding Hood
They are deeply weird, but in a good way. I still like Buckingham the best, mostly because the chorus is the address of a neighborhood a couple towns over.
I think Buckingham is my favorite tune of theirs. The First Take performance was great.
They are weird, but not in the off putting way some are. It’s a friendly vibe.
To be honest, trying to get through the weekend listening to other music. Yesterday was Fox Day, and the Babymetal Collective’s heads are exploding. They have announced the new member (Momometal, who was really good as a dancer both times I have seen her). The ended the old era, possibly putting a stake in Kawaii Metal, have a new logo, (OMG the skull Yui drew for the old one is gone (more heads explode)), stating a new beginning and hinting at a new album.
Oh, and 3 teenage girls introduced as New Babymetal performed Karate during the concert last night. They might be doing the old cutesy stuff going forward.
It’s a great community but a bit hyperbolic.
So other music today
Baby Metal rules.
I’ll back up anyone on this.
Also, fun story, it wasn’t The Hu, it was Hanggai - another Mongolian folk project with metal and rock leanings.
I got to jam with them on stage in Vancouver at the Vancouver Folk Festival. They ruled. And wanted weed.
It’s amazing the things that transcend language barriers.
Too funny. My first exposure to the Mongolian folk metal scene was Tengarr Cavalry. When I saw the bill for the Babymetal concert, I didn’t know who I was looking forward to seeing the most, the girls or the Hu. I was already a Hu fan.
That was well done. I didn’t even know she went to church.
I’ve always knew I liked XTC, at least the half-dozen or so “hits” I knew, but their greatest hits album does not have Peter Pumpkinhead, which I love, so, Discogs and the UK to the rescue for Nonsuch - and holy cow what an amazing album Front to back. And the sound is fantastic too! Hooray for Peter Pumpkinhead!!!
I vote for the Mayor of Simpleton

Hmmm, perhaps a dress is a good option.
Won’t be buried though, I want to be composted like you’re supposed to be.
Closest cover of this legendary vocal performance by Clare Torry that I have ever heard. I love this song, always loved this song and judge all PF tribute bands by how they perform this song. This vocalist nails it perfectly as far as I can tell. I got chills just listening.
I’ve been listening to a lot of PF today. This is the alternate version of “Have a Cigar” with Roger and David singing and harmonizing.
Natural fabrics will compost just fine. Those poly blends though are to be avoided.
