The other cool thing about the song is that Fuki’s vocals are a masterclass in emotive desparate determination. The song is about someone biding their time and making their moves in a losing game of unrequited love, where they are making their moves and taking their last chance at winning the other person over/back, and they won’t give up. And the way she sings it gets across both the desperation and the commitment to winning.

I just love these sounds…Down to the bone…

Symphonic Death metal is trippy, but fun.

I love what Unlucky Morpheus does with symphonic metal. It’s like symphonic metal with a videogame twist. I call it Castlevania Metal.

I had never heard of these guys, they rock. I have no idea what the lyrics are saying but they feel kind of like amaranthe with female clean and male growling vocals.

Many of their songs have this quality like they are scoring a boss fight in an epic videogame. I love them

The musicians are all great. The lead guitarist (and the guy shouting the vocal fry) is pretty accomplished and was also in babymetal’s Kami band.

The singer is in a couple bands and also side projects, and is a master of getting the emotion across in her vocals even if you don’t understand the words

The drummer is a crazy amazing metal drummer.

I’m having trouble getting this out of my head at the moment. There’s no official video for this song as yet, so this will have to do. Some Thunder from Down Under:

It’s an oldie (90s) but the bass line is super groovy!!

It’s both pretty simple, but it’s devilishly difficult to play at 122bpm, over and over again, without getting your fingers all twisted up!

Once again, I think the drum machine is your friend. I was playing this yesterday, and then again this morning, taking the drums up from 80bpm to 135bpm, then back down to 122bpm.

I’m not yet ‘clean’, ie some notes are buzzy, and I don’t get it all right, but it’s a hell of a workout for the fingers!
