Understandable. I saw them live in the fall and Alicia has great stage presence and looked like she’s having a blast, so I’m a huge fan of her.
I like it.
Reminds me of a Waylon Jennings quote, “ I’ve always felt that blues, rock ‘n’ roll and country are just about a beat apart.”
YAAAAAS OPETH! I am a huge prog and metal fan and Opeth was one of my earliest influences for vocals. Currently on a MASSIVE Calugala’s Horse kick
Man, this track is just so awesome in its raw perfection. The way he’s yelling “it’s only just beguuuuuuuuuuunnn!!”, always gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I have listened to this. One of the artists were raw emotion took precedence over musical ability.
Generally, I find most prog metal to be a bit too much for me, but Opeth really hits the sweet spot. I am a big fan of the more generic prog rock though. Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Porcupine Tree (even though they’ve traditionally fought that label), District 97, etc. Great stuff.
It’s funny because I am totally the opposite. Dislike most prog rock (unless you count Rush and Hawkwind); but I like prog metal just fine.
Anybody transcribed and/or learnt this one?
Oh man, I absolutely love Tom Waits. This would be a fun walking bass line to cover.
There’s a bit of tab over on ultimate guitar that doesn’t look complete, but might get you started:
Not such a Tom Waits Fan, but I really had to laugh when I heared “Big in Japan” and bought the Album many years ago…
Late to the Krautrock party and came across these guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e73qQA57WSk
They are touring with Earthless which I also recommend!

My son’s band did a cover of this song recently and Ive been listening to these guys a lot since. I hope they come to the US soon. Would love to go see them…
Maneskin Gossip
Also, if anybody could tell me how to embed the actual video and not just the hyperlink, I would appreciate it…
on YT at the bottom of the vid, click share and then copy the link and post it here. Links that come from searches don’t work as well
And Vic DeAngilis of Maneskin is a heck of a bassist.
