All I read here is “I have a much younger girlfriend and you guys suck at bass”
That 2nd part is probably just my inner lack of confidence speaking.
For the record my wife is 5yrs younger .
You must have misread the 2nd part
There is one golden rule for my bass playing: if my girlfriend sings to it, it’s not terrible. If she doesn’t, I know I s#ck!
Hahahaha! The only real and outspoken complaint I get is: “Oh, not again!”. Or “Why don’t you use headphones?”
That’s cause I play quite a few songs daily, sometimes at 80%, 90% and then 100%.
Repeating is learning, after all!
For me, playing it, it’s great. But I can imagine that having to hear a song so many times, with my terrible noodling sometimes, can be unnerving!
Every wife that I have had has been older than me!
Am I killing myself?!!??
Trying to learn Joey by Concrete blonde to play with some others on Monday and what she plays on the bass in 2 videos isn’t what’s on a bass cover I’m following (lots of chugging). I think I still want to play the more complex version but I’m really just curious if the chugging bassline I hear is really the guitar or bass?
So the original video (I think) no chugging: https://youtu.be/OdpTcvSn8HQ?feature=shared
A later live show (someone is chugging it’s not her): https://youtu.be/UwiXtHHTzl8?feature=shared
Here’s a version where she’s not playing and what I assume to be the bassist, has a 3424324 string bass: https://youtu.be/XQK_bPUbufQ?feature=shared
The bass tab cover I’m looking at(more chugging than a college frat party):
I self recorded for the first time today and had my tracks mismatched until I figured some stuff out. My first few listens I thought about taking my basses out to the yard and burning them but then I figured out I didn’t have things matched and now I think I just need to lock myself in a closet with a metronome for a few days.
Hoping to post and get some feedback. I have enough now but I think I want to try one more take with video.
The new Linda Lindas has some bangers, including the opener:
Great stuff. I loved seeing them get their start by covering Bikini Kill during the Covid lockdowns. They’re growing up too fast.
About 10 years ago a bunch of Russians started reading 2chan, making bands based on some of the Niijura Maid characters there, postfixing their band names with “the maid”, invented Maidcore, and I am not complaining at all
it’s… it’s freaking great
So the only other piece of music that was hiding in my YT private area was this bit of ambient goofing around I did about 9 years ago using some FX pedals and a guitar back in the day.
Hoping I can at least scare up a like from @howard
SHEEP!
Oh cool
This genre is just neat. It’s like a blend of post-rock, hi-passed/washed-out post-metal with glitchy breakcore or other electronica. Digging.
Only bummer is the weeby art style that seems universal among the artists, but hey they aren’t alone there.
Back in the days of CD player alarm clocks, I used to have mine set to Smothered Hope.
Abandon Hope All Ye Who … bother to get out of bed.
Remission is still probably my favorite album of all time. Bites+Remission (as it was usually sold) clinches it.
