Full 2 hr. concert (audio only, with a moving landscape video).
Since some time I am (re)discovering European music again, as the tariffs make listening to US music too expensive
Something great from Holland:
I think you’d like this one but see if you can find it on Spotify. YTs compression softens the edges of the song and steals some of its magic.
That’s quite Khruangbin…
Ooh that’s awesome
Oh I had to look that up - yes, yes it is @jonathanhaynes43
Full Disclosure: The love of my life…the One That Got Away™…was a woman from Beijing. Perhaps as a result of that, the sound of spoken (and sung) Mandarin is like Kryptonite to me, but in a good way:
Electric bass and drums join in after a few phrases, so there is a bass component to this. Zhou Peng—her actual name is 周鹏, but most people have trouble understanding that—sings like an angel. And those last three chords from the string section as the song closes are just <<chef’s kiss>>.
Fun Fact!: Zhou Peng studied at the same PLA academy of arts where my previously-mentioned object of perpetual desire’s mother once taught. Whether their paths ever crossed I don’t know.
Billie Holiday was such a talent. Too bad that she had such a rough go at life. I managed to snag the “Complete Verve Studio Master Takes by Holiday, Billie Box set, Original recording remastered edition (2005) Audio CD” in the metal box when it was released. SO good. Out of print now. Used sets here in France are going for 80 € and up. I don’t know what they go for in the U.S. It’s amazing, if you can find one.
Just came across this and love it
I’m a huge fan of this album
Love that track — moody and groovy in the best way. Right now I’ve got Hiatus Kaiyote – Red Room on repeat… smooth, spacey vibes that hit just right. Might toss that one into my cover list too. Always up for discovering gems midweek!
My favorite band, The Birthday Massacre, released their new album last week and I’ve been grooving to that. I even saw them live in Seattle last Monday (VIP and front row to the show!!!). Awesome band and awesome music. Been listening to this band for about 15 years and I love everything they do. New album has been played nonstop in my car…
Here’s a playlist of their newest album. If you like dark synthwave, goth, rock, 80’s vibe and just plain ol’ awesome music, check them out.
Most Excellent.
Ronnie played one of my favorite guitar parts when he was leading Gamma:
(I have a thing for guitar solos with lots of long, sustained notes…a little breathing room so to speak.)
Glenn Letsch on the bass on Gamma 2, keeping it simple but effective on this tune, methinks.
I remember that album.
My favorite song with Ronnie is Frankenstein though
I do like Bad Motor Scooter though
Ronnie is overlooked I think
Many such cases…
