Totally agree Gloucestre. In fact, I just returned from the Austin Reggae festival. 3 days of great tunes, good vibes and happy people. Rhythm has always been an important part of ska/reggae music. Not to mention the all important skank (ska upbeat). For more of the history, I highly recommend Lloyd Bradley’s “Bass Culture”.
Another recommendation is a song by Smashmouth called “Road Man”.
Frederick “Toots” Hibbert and the Maytals! Great band. I totally agree about Time Tough. Pomp and Pride, Fever and I Really Love the Rain and some other great tunes.
Idle is about to do a comeback, so we got the first announcement today. A funeral for the letter “G”
When Idle formed the girls wanted to name themselves Idle, which means lazy in English and children in Korean.
Record company wasn’t having it. They forced them to take (G)I-dle as their name. At 17/18 years old, they had no choice.
Fast forward to today, they are one of the biggest names in pop worldwide, signed a new contract, and this is their announcement of their comeback. Along with links to new social media accounts. All with i-dle as a name.
And a funeral for the letter G which has some dates in it, and no explanations or news releases. I love groups who buck the system. And a rebrand is a risky thing.
Another month ends…here was the playlist (full albums always) while at the fitness centre…

“Hard Luck Woman” is a song by American hard rock band Kiss and the lead single from their 1976 album, Rock and Roll Over. It was originally written by Paul Stanley as a possible track for Rod Stewart, but after the success of the soft rock ballad “Beth”, Kiss decided to keep it for themselves as a follow-up.
Stanley has stated his admiration and love of Stewart’s music numerous times, and that “Hard Luck Woman” was inspired by Rod Stewart, in particular the songs “Maggie May” and “You Wear It Well”.
While Stewart’s music served as a partial inspiration for the song, the nautical themed song “Brandy” by American pop-rock band Looking Glass served as Stanley’s main inspiration. Hard Luck Woman
