It looks like you’re asking about slides in music! The technique you’re referring to is likely called a glissando or a slide (when referring to string or brass instruments, or even vocal slides). It’s when you move smoothly between two notes, creating a continuous pitch change. You might also encounter this technique when guitar players slide between frets, or in some vocal stylings. Possibly repeating answers here, but those are Grace Notes.
I like to think of them as little flicks of character.
The main notated “target” note should should be rock solid, but grace notes are quick little flourishes. Like imagine the bass player on the track playing on stage and having a bit of fun.
It can add a lot to the “attitude” of a tracks sound. They’re very “human” notes IMO.
