“Everyday People” by Sly and the Family Stone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUUhDoCx8zc&list=RDYUUhDoCx8zc&start_radio=1

It is surprisingly difficult for me to chug along on one note for the entire song without drifting out of time or just getting so tired I have to take a break.

I wanna master this one!

I pulled up Every Day is Halloween by Ministry last night. Most of it is simple but there’s a section in the middle thats eighth note chords that’s gonna take some work to get comfortable with.

Now that I’m finally free from the shackles of Bauhaus (not really, I love the song but I played it every day for a month and a half), I’m working on this one now. The syncopation on this one is no joke. It should hopefully help level up my picking chops. It’s a lot of fun, but after a cuople of days, I’m still paying a lot of attention to those syncopated parts.

Hello Guys!

I am currently learning this:

Bare with me, the bass starts a bit later in the song but it’s SO good.

(I also know that this is not everyone’s cup of tea as it is not English but stick until the bass riff - it’s worth it)

This is my first ever song that I’m learning solely by ear. And I’m 95% through. There are some walk-ups that I’m still struggling with but I’m super proud of myself (:

20ish from my practice list from the past few months, playing these and more everyday, total over killing them but its the price I pay for refusing to suk so bad. There’s more I practice daily but those were the tabs that were open so that’s the last songs I practiced yesterday.

All these songs are going really well but I’m now getting slap happy, Marcus Miller and Dr. Funk are the new direction, however I will continue with Rush and Yes always. But Funk is where I’m going.

All these are on Songsterr, I loaded some of them. if you play them using Songsterr seek the newest version. A recent upgrade to the transposing software makes the newer translations more accurate.

Nice choice, nice groove.

There’s lots of great qawwali out there with the re-mixed being some of my favorite.

Not knowing the language lets one hear the voice only as an instrument.

Recently I added some Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Michael Brook on Songsterr, you might like it.

I tried quoting your reply @jimmyWishbone but maybe I’m now in the generation that starts to struggle with technology?

Anyways, I listened to sweet pain of theirs and it sounds really good! Definitely going to add this to my bass playlist ! Thanks!

My practice set is all 80s, only 80s. This week, I’m working on Eye In The Sky and Games People Play by the Alan Parsons Project, True Faith by New Order (the bass synth part); and Friday I’m In Love by The Cure. Next up will likely be some Depeche Mode, T’Pau, and Steve Winwood.

Into the Fire by Deep Purple

Easy, yet extremely satisfying to play all that chromatic runs.

Although I don’t get why in the video here, the guy plays the second part of the bridge (and outro):

A# B - F F# on the 3 and 4 of the D string, instead of the much nearer A string

EDIT: reposted here, wrong thread
