Got handed down to me this bass, pretty vintage and not in production anymore as I researched (1970s Jolana Iris Bass is what I got in image searching)
Replaced strings and fixed the output, played for a couple of months and it seems to have the strings on tension too much. People are saying that I should by short-scale strings.
What would you recommend? Maybe there are some specific recommendations for this guitar, let me know here :]
Measure the length of the string from the nut to the bridge saddle. That’s 20 frets it could be 30” or 32”. then buy the Short scale string. If you are not sure it should be a 5 inches longer than the longest strings from tuner to bridge.
Measured to the 12th fret from the nut and doubled the numbers (because the 12th fret is the halfway point as I discovered), so yeah, 78 cm is approx. 30.7 inches.
Is there any brand you could recommend for strings?
