You can never have too many friends. Or basses. Just ask @Al1885.

I despise pagers which is why I don’t use my “smart” phone. Are you pulling my leg or is that the proper way to do it?
No appendage pulling expressed or implied. Josh and Gio are the owner and a moderator, respectively.
Just trying to help…

You did help @joergkutter and I thank you for the help. I thought pagers were long gone. The last time I had to wear one was in 2005. With all the smart tech items these days I figured it was done a different way than a disgusting pager.
I am not sure what the repercussions would be if I disturbed “THE Josh” so I think I will drop the issue.
Not to worry, the “paging” here is just a figure of speech hinting back to the days of hardware pagers. Josh and Gio are being notified on account of their handles being used in the message, and I am sure they’ll respond in due time

AHA! so you admit to pulling one over on me. For shame! @joergkutter
That wasn’t my intention! It was a playful attempt to mimic what you might hear on an intercom in, say, a hospital or airport etc. (“Paging Doctor Miller, please come to examination room 5!”); that sort of thing
PS: I can see how the grammar of what I wrote could cause some confusion…
Not necessarily. Before there were public address systems, there were humans who worked as pages. One of their jobs was to walk around hotel lobbies or other public areas, calling out someone’s name to deliver a message or call them to a phone.
There was once a famous advertising campaign for Phillip Morris cigarettes where a page was walking about yelling, “Call for Phillip Morris!”
One thing that nobody tells you @UncleToad is all the unwanted attention you get at social occasions when they find out you’re a bassist.
I’m very happily married, but just to calm the ladies down I say I’m a drummer. Works every time.
Well @joergkutter I was going to send you a response about your playfulness and then I got this from the site AI:
“You’ve replied to @joergkutter 3 times, did
you know you could send them a personal
message instead?”
So I guess I should not reply to your reply.
OH, darn I guess I did reply after all!
Sorry Forum Monitor.
Hah, yeah, the forum doesn’t understand that the peanut gallery loves to watch and wait for the perfect time to interject with their two cent’s
Taking it to private messages is no fun for the rest of us
I blame @Bassbot
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @bassbot display help
.
I’ve always loved the thump and power of the bass guitar. To me the bass guitar is like the thunder that goes with lightning. Without that thunder lightning might not be as much of an attention grabber.
I love to hear great lead guitarists too but the bass has always grabbed my attention and lets me know if im going to like most songs or not.
Im kind of finicky about bass parts too as there are many great bassist out there but I tend to dislike super complex or fast bass parts because it has a tendency to sound muddled to me.
As a retirement project starting in 2020, I wanted to learn to play the instruments I’ve always been interested in! In July last year it happened to be the turn of the bass guitar. This year its drums although at the moment I’ve just started with desktop electronic drum pads rather than a full acoustic drum kit. If I get to play reasonably well I’ll get a full kit for the basement. So far I’ve resumed playing guitars and harmonicas, trying to improve on keyboards and midi keyboards, bass, drums, ukulele, the re.corder which is a digital wind instrument based on the recorder and finally the theremin. I don’t play any of them particularly well but I get a lot of fun out of it.

@UncleToad has been placed in time-out because he is cranky and needs a nap.
I post too much for me to take this message seriously. You should ignore it like the rest of us.
the word/position has been around since at least the 15th century
