This is just my own personal story, and I expect nothing from anyone for reading itđ
About 20 years ago my great uncle gave me a cheap black bass he no longer used. I had no amp, no tuner, no instructions, heck, it didnât even get a proper setup. But man I beat the crap out of those strings. I would loosen the strings until they rattled and just thumb and pluck the crap out of them until my thumb was calloused. Some years later I ended up trading that Bass for a bag of great weed that lasted me about a weekđ€Ł. Regrets, so many regretsâŠ
Now 20 years later I am going about it a bit differently and have different motivations. I have two kids who adore music. They beat up an electric piano, I gave them each a pair of drumsticks and they bang away on little tamborines and a xylophone like theyâre the next John Bonhamđ„°
I hope by learning to play this Bass properly I can show them what dedication to actually Learning an Instrument entails, and kindle a deeper love for music itself.
I have a Squier Debut P Bass. I bought it in a shop out here in Thailand, and my GAS is severly limited to whatâs available in town and websites like Shoppee and Lazada. So despite wanting to upgrade, I have to take my time and really dedicate a lot of research to each piece as if it was a Holy Relic. Because I canât afford to buy and stack things on a shelf because they neither fit nor work for my particular Bass. So, if yâall get tired of seeing the same types of âwill this work for my particular bassâ Threads from me I apologize in advanceđ
So far besides the Bass, I have a Fender Rumble 15 Amp, a Tuner(i figured out the sweet spot where to mount it on my headstock to get all 4 strings tuned finally), a Cappo, some tools for doing a setup and of course a gig bag. I canât set it on a Stand as thereâs really no where I can put it without the youngins getting to it. When we finally build our own place I will definitely being mounting on a wall a Hanger for it.
Thanks for everyones time, I would love to hear what got you all into the Bass rather than focusing on Guitars or Drums or Keyboardsđ
